Lenten Project

posted Feb 22, 2020, 6:10 AM by Debbie Lloyd

This year, Our Lady of Mount Carmel’s Lenten Initiative will be directed to the Kasuku Children’s Centre in Nakawuka-Kasuku village, in the republic of Uganda. It is a non-profit organization founded by an employee of our Ottawa Catholic School Board (who worked at OLMC last year). The Kasuku Children’s Centre is a Kindergarten - Grade 3 school with an umbrella support system for young parents. It is currently the only one of its kind in the area and its programs aim to incorporate sports as a vehicle, to help bring about positive change and social cohesion in a community that desperately needs social change.

Each special event day, we ask that you send your child(ren) with a donation of at least 50 cents to support our Lenten Project. If it is easier, you may simply make one larger donation for all of the 5 scheduled spirit days in advance.

Snow Day- Feb 6

posted Feb 7, 2020, 4:07 AM by Debbie Lloyd

All transportation is cancelled today due to weather and road conditions. The school is open. Should your child come to school, transportation to and from school is the parents' responsibility. All children must be picked up no later than 3:45 as staff also have transportation responsibilities for their own children. If you prefer to collect your child/children early to avoid the congestion, you are welcome to come as early as 3:00. All children still at school at 3:45, will dismiss from the gym and front foyer. Please drive/walk safely. Have a good weekend!

Pizza and Popcorn

posted Jan 8, 2020, 4:44 AM by Debbie Lloyd

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We will be sending out the order forms for pizza and popcorn electronically shortly. We will be using School Cashonline for all purchases. If you have not already registered, please do so this week (https://ocsb.schoolcashonline.com/). It is fairly easy to set up and is best done on a laptop. All you need your child's name and birthdate. Once you have set up your account, you will receive emails any time a new item is posted. Should you require assistance, School Council will be hosting an evening at school to assist you in registering. Details about the date will follow shortly.
